Greetings in the Lord & Be Not Afraid!
We have continued to monitor the situation with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) locally and throughout the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, with medical professionals and those working for a cure, and all who are ministering at this time.
Our foremost concern has always been for the spiritual growth, safety, and wellbeing of our pilgrims. Because of the risks and associated travel restrictions, we, unfortunately, will be forced to cancel the scheduled pilgrimage to Poland & Rome.
It is especially saddening & profound delivering this message on the anniversary of the death of Pope St. John Paul II...
We have been in touch with Edita Krunic, President of Select International, regarding our trip in May to Poland and Italy. We have worked together to negotiate a plan serving the best interests of all.
Three options are available for you to consider:
Select International will be offering a Future Travel Credit of your payment towards any trip they offer. At this point, please note that we, the hosts of The Catholic Talk Show, do not currently have any trips planned or scheduled. The Future Travel Credit may be used in the fall of 2020, in 2021 or 2022. Select is still negotiating with the airlines who have not set their cancellation/refund policies for May travel as of yet. If your tickets were issued, once the airline policy is crystalized, Select would notify you of details. If you purchased Travel Protection, your insurance payment would be transferred to the next trip as well. However, you may not upgrade from Basic Deluxe to CFAR when a transfer is in place.
Should you decide not to take the Future Travel Credit and have followed Select’s recommendation to purchase Trip Protection Insurance, you have the option of filing a claim with Travel Insured International. However, you cannot both accept the Future Travel Credit and make an insurance claim. Those who choose the credit will be asked to sign a waiver of the insurance claim, which will be verified with Travel Insured. Please see the attached Insurance Information update, which explains the process of filing an insurance claim. Claims can be filed online at www.travelinsured.com or by calling 1-800-243-3174. Due to the increased number of claims at this time, it might be easiest to file a claim online or wait a couple of weeks before proceeding with the claim.
- Those with Cancel for Any Reason/CFAR (Plan 98181) can receive a refund of 90% of what they have paid (minus insurance cost) unless they are filing for a medical or employment-related reason with appropriate documentation in which case they will receive 100%. A CFAR claim should be filed after you cancel the trip with Select, but no later than 48 hours prior to trip departure.
- Those with Deluxe Group (Plan 98180 ) will need to submit supporting documentation for their claim, as per the terms of the plan, to be eligible for a 100% refund. The supporting documentation would be a doctor’s note explaining that you or your travel companion cannot travel due to a medical condition or a letter from your employer canceling your time out of the office. If there is a quarantine in place at your destination within two weeks of your arrival, Group Deluxe Insurance will provide a full refund.
- If you have not purchased Trip Protection, there is still time to purchase the Deluxe Group Plan by contacting Select International. For all further questions regarding Trip Cancellation Insurance, please contact Travel Insured at 1-800-243-3174.
Select has paid non-refundable deposits to suppliers overseas and the airline. Therefore should you choose not to take Option # 1 or Option # 2 and cancel your trip, standard trip cancellation fees as per the Terms and Conditions which govern this trip and can be found in your trip brochure will apply.
We are disappointed that we will not be able to travel together this year, as planned. But our decision was made with you, your health, and your peace of mind as our top concern.
This is a Lenten penance we did not choose. The Church Teaches us that the most powerful penance of all is not the ones we choose for ourselves, but rather the willing acceptance of the trials imposed upon us by life. St. Paul advises us that, amidst evil times of trial, we ought to recognize an opportunity and make the most of it (Eph 5:16).
While the world is on pause, with so many things canceled, take some extra time for prayer. Make a retreat out of it. Turn off the constant COVID-19 news updates for a while and prayerfully read God’s word. Be kind, be compassionate, and be tolerant as we are living in trying times, and it is during these times that our Catholic values come to the forefront.
If you have additional questions or concerns not addressed here, you can contact Select International at 1-800-842-4842 or [email protected]
God bless you all,
Ryan, Ryan, & Father Richard
