Dear Family Faith Formation (CCF) Parents,

Isn’t parenting, with all of its joys, challenges and sacrifices, such a blessing from God?

My name is Dominic Salamida and I just arrived a week ago to serve you as Family Life Coordinator.  I am so grateful to God for calling me to be here at such an exciting time as the parish embarks on an amazing journey of faith formation centered on the family!  St John Paul II wrote, “By virtue of their ministry of educating, parents are, through the witness of their lives, the first heralds of the gospel to their children” (Familiaris Consortio, #39). Our call as parents to proclaim the good news of Jesus to our children is so important! As we respond to Jesus’ call to follow him, our children see how we turn to him for help, healing and hope and they see firsthand the love and mercy of God through us.

Fr. Pagano has shared with me how inspired he has been by the dedication parents of the parish have shown to living out the promises made at baptism to keep the light of faith alive in the hearts of their children.  He wants you to know that we support you and want you to have the very best experience of teaching your children.  Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Pagano knows you are busy getting your children settled with the start up of school, so startup of Family Faith Formation will be Sunday, September 27.
  • Every Sunday morning you will receive directions regarding the lesson you will teach for the week. It will be very simple, so do not be afraid!  Along with the lesson there will be an activity to do as a family and e-mail to me to reinforce the heart of the lesson.
  • Families are encouraged to set aside time (an hour should do) each Sunday to do both lesson and activity (or by Thursday at the latest).
  • Look for another e-mail next week with details about picking up the books you will use. The books will also available online.

We thank you for your patience as we roll out details and we hope you are excited for this as well!  I believe you will absolutely cherish the time you take to spend with your children talking about the love and truth Jesus comes to bring to our hearts and our homes. As they grow up, they will look back on these special times with you and come to thank you for the foundation of faith that God gave them through you!  Come, Holy Spirit, be our comfort and guide as we help our families to experience Jesus present with us!

In the hearts of Jesus and Mary,

Dominic Salamida,

Family Life Coordinator
